Chapter 5 of 14
Products and portfolios
A product carries initiatives. A portfolio groups products. It is the backbone of the map, of the list's groups and of programme committees.
The Products page
Products shows the portfolios as folding cards, the first one open, each with its number of products and their state dots. Inside, each product as a card (stage pill, name, description, owner, the list of linked initiatives, clickable) or as a table with the view toggle. The search field finds a product by its name or by the title of a linked initiative.

Create, edit, delete
Add a product opens Create a new product: a Title, a Description, a Portfolio (existing, or new), a Status among the product stages, and Strategic goals as free text. Clicking a card opens Update the product. A card's menu offers Edit, Duplicate (the name gets "(Copy)") and Delete.
Delete on a product is immediate, with no confirmation. Deleting a portfolio asks for confirmation and removes the products it holds too.
| Product stage | Reading |
|---|---|
| Discovery, Validation | Before launch, in grey. |
| MVP | A first version under test, in bronze. |
| Launch | The launch, in ink blue. |
| Growth, Mature | The product is alive, in green. |
| Sunset, Retired | On its way out, in dark bronze, then retired, in grey. |
Where products are used
- On an initiative's page, the Product property attaches it; the initiatives list groups by Products and shows the product tag on each row.
- The map links bets, initiatives, products and portfolios, with one hue per portfolio.
- A programme steerco attaches to A product or A bet: that is its scope in the pack.
- When importing a file, programmes become portfolios (or bets) and groups become products.
